Health Minister John Hill launched World Hepatitis Day and Hepatitis Awareness week in South Australia on 19 May in SA while declaring the C Pix exhibition open. Wearing a fetching watermelon coloured I ♥ my Liver T-shirt, the Minister stressed the importance of art as a medium for health education both for the artists and their audiences. He congratulated the young C Pix participants and awarded prizes for the top three photo essays. Referring to the results of the Hepatitis Australia survey which found a "disturbingly low level of knowledge" of hepatitis among South Australians, Mr Hill pointed out the importance of hepatitis education and awareness raising.
