C-Pix! is a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn new skills in art and photography while learning facts about hepatitis C that is important to their health and well-being.

Through the creation of photo-essays, young people can delve into how hepatitis C risks relate to behaviour, especially in unsterile tattooing, piercing and scarification practices, and drug use. Issues relating to stigma and isolation will also be explored.

The Hepatitis C Council of South Australia will provide support through hepatitis C education sessions, a disposable camera for each participant and photography workshops with a community artist/photographer. Photos taken with digital cameras or camera phones will also be accepted.

Entries will be judged and exhibited during Hepatitis Awareness Week in May 2010. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and a people’s choice award.

Young people participating in C-Pix! will have the opportunity to be part of a art project that will not only raise their own awareness about an important health issue, but will also help to raise hepatitis C awareness among their peers.
